The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500’s led to a moral panic. Hops were condemned as a “wicked and pernicious weed”, one which would lead to the erosion of social and moral standards. Thank goodness they were right. Here’s hoping that our homage to the original pernicious weed continues this gradual decline. Organic Rakau and whole cone Nelson Sauvin go head to head in this strong, golden, hoppy brew. Bitter, yes. Intensely hoppy, absolutely. Too much, never.

Bomber shared by Marcus. Pours dark gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma is semi-dank and prunus fruits with white wine. Strong hop aroma. Med + body. Strong hop flavor - dark green stuff and it’s astringent. Dry. Arguably earthy. Bitter too. Very. Could be a preservative. Super tasty.

Bottle at work, thanks to Craig for bringing this back from NZ. Aromas of resinous and spiced orange, dank tropical fruit. Taste is light sweet, big hop bitterness, light booze note. Clean finish.

Can at Sorbon. Hazy orange with a white head. Sweet with hops, grapefruit, caramel, light mango and grass. The body was medium and the finish quite bitter. Not a bad one but a bit old.

Tap at Ale Arsenal. Sweet and a bit cloying. Golden-copper with a full white head. Aroma and flavor both included honey. Not too dank for the name.

Gylllen brun farge med lys beige skum. Lukter av humle, krydder og grape. Smaker litt fruktig og noe salt. Medium fylde og medium med kullsyre. Noe bitter avslutning.

Can from Systembolaget. Clear amber with mid sized white head. Big fruity, hoppy aroma with sticky piney notes. Taste is piney with some citrus, sticky resin, mango and pineapple. Very nice combination of sticky pine and fruity hops.

Can. A golden beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, caramel, citrus fruits, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of hops, malt, caramel, and over ripe fruits, leading to a bitter finish.
