6/11/2018. Bottle from Brewklopedia, Leicester. Pours very dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of aniseed, chocolate, cough medicine, dandelion and burdock, clove, black treacle, dark fruits and Christmas cake spices. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium to full bodied, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Liked this.

Tried in a bottle from Nottingham. Blackish colour with a tan head. Aroma spicy and roasted malty as is the taste. Full body.

Handpull cask at Broood, Leicester. Dark brown and almost opaque with a tiny ring of off-white head. Spicy aroma of cinnamon and clove, dried petals, treacle and suggestions of chocolate and sarsaparilla. Tastes a bit too much for me - too boozy, too spiced, too sweet - but I like the character. It's fun to drink even though it's a winter beer on the hottest day of the year.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of licorice, lots of sweet spice, cola, gingerbread, rich dried fruit. Smooth spicy sweet flavours, more gingerbread, cinnamon, licorice. Splash of aniseed in the finish. Works very well I must say, Intriguing brew.
