Smokey session IPA. Quality two-row spring barley malt, slowly dried over hot, smoky embers of well-aged beech wood is blended with English Pale Ale malt and other roast malts to give a subtle, smoky beer rather
than a full out onslaught of tar and kippers.

Keg at Alfred Free House, Upper Hale, 16/03/17. Smokey but not overly so; reminds me of dry roasted peanuts. Hazy amber. Just off-white creamy head. Umami. Light bitter. Some sweetness in the mix. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. Good stuff. Well balanced. Not smoked out.

500ml Bottle - Copper in colour. Smoky aroma with ash, raisins, toffee and peach. The smokiness is not as evident in the taste as it is in the aroma but as well as some smoky notes, hints of peach, apricot, sultanas and toffee can be detected. Quite nicely balanced and rather subtle as the label says.
