Brewing an American IPA, but with a Belgian twist...that's the idea behind Amer-Amer. We chose two American varieties of hops, but only use whole hop flowers cultivated in Belgium.
Taste: The 'Belgo-American' hops have a better balance in flavour and a less aggressive bitterness, without losing taste or intensity. Dry hopping with Cascade enforces the beer's rich aroma.

(Bottle) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with frothy tan head. Fruity nose with notes of apricot marmalade, orange, caramel, bread, butterscotch, spices and a touch of banana. Fruity, hoppy taste with apricot marmalade, orange, caramel, bread, butterscotch, pine needles and a generous citric/spicy bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Hoppy, well made, with a spicy Belgian yeast touch. Nice one.

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy amber pour, half finger soapy off-white head, medium retention, broken lacing on the glass. Nose is yeast, wet grass, herbs and hops. Light citrus peel in the background. Medium body, lively carbonation. Average mouthfeel and texture, fizzy, moderately thick, light chewy. Quite drinkable. Balanced taste, pleasantly bitter with mild sweet notes in the background. Aroma of yeast, grass, citrus peel. Hops, spice. Herbal notes, candy. Slightly sticky. Long lasting finish, dry, lingering bitterness. Good.

Bottle at Valhalla. I do not exactly dig the Belgian IPA thing, but this beer does it well. Spicy yeasty phenolics with grassy citrusy hoppiness. Moderately drinkable. Good but not great.
