Double Barrel Aged Iced Barleywine comes in at an astounding 20%! To create this beast, we brewed a full-bodied barleywine and aged it for a year in Woodford Reserve Bourbon barrels. Then we harnessed the powers of our frigid Wisconsin winters by setting the filled whisky barrels outside to concentrate that barleywine goodness. It was then transferred into new Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels to age and mellow for an additional 18 months! What that means is you get some well-conditioned barleywine dripping with flavors of caramel and bourbon.

Brown with low off white head - Malt aroma with some dark fruity tones - Malt body with dark fruity flavours and good wood barrel flavours as well - The dark malt with fruity wood flavours goes into the finish with some alcohol heat - This was good

Bottle, 650 ml, shared with others at Ambasada. Alcohol on nose, nicely hidden in flavour though. Caramel, malty, some dried fruit, figs, dates, more caramel, toffee. Full bodied. Monster which turned out quite nicely.

Bit murky dark brown, looks thick, pretty flat. Smells malty, boozy, wood, some bourbon. Thick, very low carbed, quite hot alcohol but no surprise there. Taste is heavy, rich caramelly raisiny malts, sweet, some light bitter, soft bourbon. Nice.

Tap @MBCC 2022, Blue Session. clear amber, no head. Sweet malty, hoppy bitter and caramely aroma. Sweet malty flavour, vanilla, whisky booze.

Flaska från Wisconsin, 2020. Rostbrun, nätt krona. Doftar sött, tungt, honung, lätt nötigt, knäckigt. Trots storlek är det inte en jättekladdig kropp, utan snarare åtstramat och fatdrivet. Höstlöv, bra beska kvar, rejäl hetta även om 20% inte känns av. Förvånansvärt nyanserat och balanserat. Trodde denna skulle bli tuff att ta sig igenom, men tömdes relativt lätt. Mycket snyggt och elegant.

ABV: 20.0%. Hazy - murky medium amber colour with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, malty, dried fruit, rich, light barrel - vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a long duration, rich, caramel, malty, dried fruit, barrel - vanilla, wood - oak. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20211022]
