Colab #1: The Antidote (14% abv) is the result of the collaboration between The Blacksmith’s Meadery, Fermenthings and Terr@Air. It is a dry, traditional mead that was fermented on an ex-Antidoot barrel. The oak barrel was previously used to mature a cider.
The Antidote presents itself as a white wine. Terr@air’s wildflower honey creates a beautiful floral aroma in the nose, in which we can also observe apples and a little butter. In the taste the butter and apples come back accompanied by a crisp tartness. In the nose again floral notes of honey. Due to the micro-oxidation in the oak vessel, some sherry tones also surface. Subtle, structured tanins define the creamy mouthfeel nicely.

Pours clear, very light blonde. Smell is sharp, mildly oxidative, mild wood. Bit fino like, mild acidity. Taste is dry, some honey aroma, very fino-forward like tannines, wood, alcohol touch and dryness. mild apple-like fruityness ( hidden, but present) . Very interesting drinkt that seems to be best described as what a Fino is to wine, this would be to Mead. Awesome !
