0.75 l bottle from the brewery's web shop, 2022 vintage, best before November 2024. Almost clear, deep reddish amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently smoky-medicinal and a little fruity aroma of peat, iodine, caramel, sultanas and some honey. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, rather smoky-medicinal and a bit fruity taste of caramel, sultanas, dried apricot, peat, iodine and light honey, followed by a short, slightly bitter, a little woody-dry finish. Medium to full body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant Doppelbock, not overly complex but nicely peaty.

0.75 l bottle from 'Craft Bier Bude', best before December 2022. Almost clear, ruby with a medium large, foamy, almost stable, off-white head. Intensely sweetish-malty, gently fruity aroma of raisins, molasses, whisky, vanilla and some honey. Quite sweet, malty, gently fruity taste of molasses, raisins, honey, vanilla and whisky, followed by a long, moderately bitter, gently boozy and a little woody finish. Medium to full body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very well-balanced and still fairly intense with really pleasant flavours, especially lovely notes of whisky, lie a bottom-fermented Barley Wine. Probably the best BA beer from Maisel so far.

Huge thanks to Erzengel for sharing! Beer in the glass brownish, small head. Woody alcoholic aroma. Starts intense malty, spicy, whiskey notes, quite alcoholic. Sweetish-alcoholic finish, fruity hints, warming malty finish. Not bad.

75cl. Great woody nose. The beer starts creamy and malty. Soft woody caramel. The whisky is soft in the back, alcoholic parts booze with wood and caramel. Soft malty sweetish rich body. Long boozy caramel finish with hints of gin (?). Wood there and soft caramel. Deutlich holziger Beginn. Wenig karamellig, feinherb, ansteigende Süße. Spritzig, dennoch intensiv, etwas Alkohol, langer würziger Abgang. Okay. 10/9/10/9/10/9

Fläschla (75dl): Hazy, deep golden to copper coloured, no head to speak of, moderate to solid sweet caramelly-malty nose with traces of dried fruits and vanilla & wood; robust sweet-bitter flavour, pretty full bodied, pretty soft; vanilla and caramel in the sweet and mildly bitter finish, accompanied by some warming alcohol. Yes, a nice winter-warmer...
