Imperial Stout + Chocolate + Raspberries

An imperial stout brewed with raspberries and Valrhona cocoa nibs. Rich flavours of chocolate and fruit collide with boozy heat.

Building on our repertoire of wild stouts we have combined our love of locally foraged fruits with our penchant for sweet dark beers. The combination of fruit and chocolate is always amazing and what better way to combat the cold nights of the changing seasons than with a rich warming stout?

(Draught at Craft Beer Co Old Street, London, 25 Nov 2017) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark chocolate, raspberries and caramel. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, coffee, raspberries and a balanced cacao bitterness in a finish with a slight red fruit tartness. Almost full body, with a slight sweetness. Tasty and well made with a good combination of chocolate and raspberries. Nice one.

Bodney Towers bottleshare. Thanks to Dan. Opaque black brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Soft and creamy dark malts. Big berry fruits, soft and jammy and quite intense. Light finish. Nice, soft rich and fruity.

Tap@Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen - Black pour with beige head. Very sweet and slightly roasted malty with prominent chocolate with some raspberry fruity notes, medium body, overt sweet but works as a nice desert style tick, pretty decent.

Very lively 750ml bottle poured into a snifter glass. Deep, dark reddish brown with a thick pinkish tan head. Rich raspberry and chocolate aroma, flavour is raspberry and bitter chocolate, ramped up to 11. Neither over sweet nor over bitter, this was a great beer.
