Rich, smooth and classy; just like Robert Burns. The bittersweet blend of flavours is derived from the crystal, black and pale ale malts, and fresh, aromatic hops. Dark amber in colour and full-bodied, this is just the sort of ale Burns would have savoured during his time as an officer of the Excise.

Bottle from Peckhams, Glasgow. Ruby with lasting beige head. Some nice red berry aroma, some palma violets, some very nice milk choc. Yeah, it’s alright, but pasteurised so too much candy sugar, but still pretty good due to the milk choc.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a creamy, beige head leaving laces. Discreet aroma of nuts and caramel. Fairly light body with light notes of caramel and roasted malt and a discreet, underlying sweetness. Ends dry though. 290107

Bottle. Very malty aroma with a little brown sugar and a hint of flowery hops. Clear dark brown colour, stable head. Very malty flavour that unfortunately has a slightly sharp bitterness. Liquorice aftertaste.

Bottle. Brown beer, very strong head. The aroma is fairly light, the flavour is very dry with a toffee and malty finish. Overall a weak scottish beer.

[At Københavnske Øldage 2005] A clear red beer with a disappearing off-white head. The aroma contains slight hints of cowberries as well as alcohol. The flavor is primarily of alcohol, that dries out the mouth combined with some metal notes during the beginning, and then turning into a end where cowberries take over.
