Each quarter we stretch our creative muscles and brew a variation of our year-round Imperial Stout. This quarter we’ve paired up with our good friends at Modern Times Coffee to create a special pairing of coffee and beer. Their Celestial Dawn coffee has robust notes of chocolate, berries, stone fruit, wood, and spice. When combined with our Speedway Stout, the blend is full of chocolate, fruit, and caramel notes.

Tap at Burger Joint New York, Singapore. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy tan head and some clingy lace. The aroma is roasty malt, liqouirce, red berry fruits. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, with a roasty, smooth, liqouirce, light fruit, dry charcoal palate. Full bodied with flat carbonation. Kinda liked this but felt in some ways as though it was yesterday’s beer. Lots of good flavours but nothing new and interesting.

Poured from the tap. Black with tan head. Quality coffee with chocolate notes. Doesn’t quite make it to the original speedway, but excellent nonetheless.
