Rustic dry-hopped saison

This rustic saison was brewed with Pilsen malt, wheat and a healthy dose of spelt, which contributes to the rich copper colour and slightly spicy malt character. This malt backbone is complemented by the flavour and aroma of the dry-hop. Hallertau Blanc is a modern German hop that has the traditional noble hop character (herbal and spicy) but also brings some a pleasant fruity character to this saison, with notes of gooseberries and white grape. With a light bitterness and dry finish, Blanca is as refreshing as it is complex.

Poured from the tap. Clear-ish blonde with small white head. Wheat, coriander, feint floral, decent.

Billed as a witbier but whatever. Hazy and yellow, fairly clean, light fruitiness, hints of coriander, slightly floral. Touch yeasty in the finish but one of their better wits.

Cloudy copper and okay foam, nice caramel on the nose with hoppy lager notes. Flavour is nice amber lager notes, slightly hoppy, good smoothness. Nothing spectacular but easy and worthwhile.

On tap at Strange Fellows, pours a hazy dull copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out rustic saison yeast, some black pepper, and a touch of floral character. Flavour is quite rustic, bringing out a really nice saison yeast character, some black pepper, and a nice gentle hop character from the Hallertau. Really nicely constructed, getting a real nice character from the yeast. Excellent.
