Redhook Long Hammer IPA is a West Coast classic. The generous addition of hops during the brewing and fermentation process gives our India Pale Ale its characteristic bitterness and piney citrus aroma and flavor. Tracing its heritage from another Redhook classic beer, Ballard Bitter, Long Hammer IPA is one of America’s favorite IPAs and Seattle’s #1 local IPA.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein goldenes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig, hopfig fruchtig, bitter. Geschmack intensiv fruchtig hopfig, stark malzig.

Orange color, hazy texture with a small white foam which goes away quite fast. Very nice appearance. Nose of bread, malts, grapefruit, tropical fruits and orange. Very fresh and nice nose. Too gassy in the mouth; malt and a light bitterness. Flat palate. It does not taste as good as it smells. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled on Nov 13 2013, at Gastropub Soho, Tampere, 20140308) The beer poured amber and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, fruitiness and malts. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, fruitiness, caramel and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. This beer was like a hoppier Bitter.

Bottle from Publix, Sarasota. Golden colour, off-white head. Nose is light malted, flowery hops, bit of pine. Flavour is malty, light hopped. Subdued bitterness. Finish is slightly bitter and dry. Not too impressive.

Nose is bread, biscuit with a little orange and mango. Taste is lightly bitter, with lots and lots of pine, a little butter scotch and malt. The finish is lastingly bitter. Mouthfeel is light. A really surprising beer, it’s not an American IPA at all, but a traditional English IPA with the pine and alcohol strength turned up. It’s nice enough. Bottle is lovely.

Good looking bottle design. As always at Red Hook. Nearly like a unclear Pils in the glass. Hop and a lot of citrus in the nose. Starts with herb grapefruit, hop and honey in the background. A little bit spicy. Low malt in the aftertaste. Okay, easy to drink, but not an IPA Hammer.

Bottle from either Glug, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne or Berlin Bier Shop, my memory fails me! Very bright and hoppy is this, with some juicy lime and tropical fruit elements. There’s a pine bitterness underpinning things and I get wafts of fairy liquid from the aroma at points. Quite enjoyed this. Nice bottle shape too.

Hazy, dark golden colour. Strong aroma of fresh malts and green hop. Flavour also strong in pale malt. Some sweet lemon, citrus, soap, hop flavours.

Absolutely embarrassing, terrible effort. No rating means trash.

At Velocity 5, Sterling VA November 2013. Golden in colour with a slight white head and plenty of fizz. Sweetish, with a malty edge and some thin citrus hops, before a moderately bitter finish. Fine.
