Odyssey 009 is a blend of sherry and bourbon barrel-aged imperial stouts and red wine barrel-aged saison, inoculated with brett and lactic-acid. Inspired by Project Barista, the beer is a complex blend of flavours found in your coffee cup - fruity acidity, roasted chocolate, nuttiness and a rounded caramel and toffee finish. A small addition of Brazilian coffee from Anvil in Basingstoke accentuates the sweetness.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour, small head. In the aroma, mild dark malt, wine, there's some sourness. Good body strength, lean mouthfeel, moderately sweet; dark malts, dark caramel, luckily not roasty, because that would clash with the mild fruity sourness, cranberries, figs.
Quite good.

500mL bottle, pours black with a tiny tan head. Aroma is loaded with brett and lacto upfront, with red wine, gentle bourbon and sherry, with gentle wood and roast. Flavour is unusual, with red wine barrels, medium roast, with a touch of soy, and some wild yeast. On paper, this sounds fucked up - but the more I drink, the more I can appreciate this. Good stuff.

Dark brown. This has a lot of chocolate up front on the aroma, with a bit of nuttiness. Soft chocolate, a fair bit of tartness, deep raisiny fruitiness. Not so bad, it's an odd combination of flavours, but it works for me.

Bottle split at L6 tasting, thanks to Fergus, 23/05/19. Black with a decent tan cap that escapes to a swirl. Nose is charr, mellow barrel, spice, tangy dried fruits. Taste comprises bitter dark fruits, ashen tones, cocoa sprinkle, dried red berries, oak, liquorice, light brett, oak, mellow barrel. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a tangy bitter sweet edge with background dusty hop bitterness. Ok number if not the most graceful I've had from the Odyssey series.
