What's your nemesis? Ours is a Barleywine-style Ale brewed with roasted malts and no shortage of hops for a pleasantly bitter, booming flavor. Pouring with a slight and subtle mahogany hue and a multitude of flavors that will melt on your tongue - this is one nemesis you'll feel good about keeping around.

Bottle picked up from Saveur-Biere webshop Frentin, nr Lille, France and consumed at home Thursday 28th September 2021, listening to Tom Ravenscroft on 6 Music, we had a great Chilli con Carne that we made a huge batch of last week. I drank this not even recalling what the style was in fact not even thinking too much about the beer until I started sipping. However this is quite bitter, there is lots of burnt and caramelized toffee, warming. Super roasty, some nuts. Btw pours dark brown with a dirty off white head. Some liquorice, molasses, but again burnt caramel is the biggie, this is a lovely beer.

A very dark brown beer, a head is medium and light beige. Aroma has caramel body, dried apricot, other fruits, some wood. Taste has caramel, wood, dried furitness, notes of rye, nice bitterness is drying. Medium+ bodied. Good beer, but the final touch is missing to make this even better.

12 ounce bottle from Festival Fond du Lac, 9/14/21. Near black with red highlights. Thin creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee, molasses, piney hops. Taste is piney hops, rye bread, toffee, molasses, dark fruits. Full bodied, well balanced, some actual bitterness, which is nice. American style. Nice.

Very clean beer as usual. Great barleywine figgy and bitter and the exact amount of sweetness to balance that. But leaning on the bitter side. Sterk ams

Founders is an appreciated brewer and barleywines have developed into one of my preferred styles. Time to sample Nemesis. One 12 oz bottle (bottled on 3/8/21) of a four pack purchased at The Cellar today, I pull the cap and pour inside of a globe glass. The body is a super dark brown with a creamy head of tan bubbles that that quickly settles. The high abv beers tend to do that. Nice scent, I get grain, dark fruits, raisins and field. The payoff, a drink has figs, malt, hops, rye bread, booze aplenty, a surprising bitterness and an assured burn going down. Different from any barleywine I’ve ever tasted. Well done.
