When Odd Society Spirits contacted us and offered up one of their freshly emptied Peated Whiskey Barrels we immediately jumped at the opportunity. Within an hour of receiving the barrel we filled it with Dive Bomb Dark Ale and the aging process commenced. We tucked the barrel away in a corner and let it aged over the course of 3 months. The result is a fantastic marriage between the smokey Peat of the Whisky and the rich flavours of the Dark Ale.

Pours a thick muddy dark brown with some pretty good solid foam. Nice strong whisky aroma, slightly metallic, maltiness in the background that ends up cloying. Taste is whisky and peatiness backed by some earthy malts. Peat and whisky working well but ends a little thin and slightly muddled. Not bad, but could be so much more.

355mL can, pours a deep dark brown with a reddish tinge and a small beige head. Nose is harsh, with peated whiskey, gasoline, perfume and some toasted malt. Flavour has some nice peat, but everything else is harsh: there's perfume, gasoline, and some campfire. It's not terrible—the peat is pleasant but it's a pretty harsh beer overall. Needs a lot of refining.
