We got together with the lovely folks at Brassneck Brewery to brew one of our favourite styles. Abstract Hyperbole is a Kellerpilsner brewed with only Bohemian floor malted Pilsner malt which undergoes a single decoction for a complex malt profile. Hopped judiciously with Tettnang in the kettle and a light dry hop with Nelson Sauvin then lagered cold for many weeks. Lots of gooseberry, white grape, fresh baked bread, and a herbal grassy snappiness to round it out.

Gold colour, a bit dull, touch of haze. Herbaceous hops and pediococcus byproduct (poop) in the nose. The body is full, with lots of biscuity pale malt. Ok, but it needs more hop. It's quite sweet, and while there's some hop in there, it lacks bitterness. Somewhere over the Atlantic, this style loses 15-25 IBU and I have no idea why. So it's not bad, but underhopped overall.

Poured from the tap. Clear yellow gold with small white head. Grass hops, light cracker malt, some straw, quite crisp.

Can from the brewery, via Sergey
Pale blond colour, clean, with medium head. The aroma is intende, first there is a bit of grassy hop an wheat bread, then it shows more modern hops, and in doing so it feels a bit like the Persephone Amarillo Pilsner. The mouthfeel is dry, not very strong; crispy base, easily overwhelmed by a robust hopping, with resiny and zesty accents, and quite strong bitterness too.
Good, but it won't become a fridge stocking, being more expensive than other equally good alternatives.

355mL can, pours a clear pale golden blonde with a medium white head. Aroma brings out bright grassy hops, some corn, and straw. Flavour is crisp and dry, with a nice biting grassy hop character upfront, crisp crackery malt, and straw. Very crisp, nicely hoppy, and crackery. Very well-made.

Nice clear gold body and good foam. Sharp and sweet grain on the nose, slight honey, nice. Flavour is sharp light grain, slightly bitter, mellow floral hops. Good carbonation, a little wet. A more forthright kellerbier than usual for around here.
