India Pale Ales (IPAs) of old were heavily hopped to survive their journey to the colonies. This is Rob’s interpretation - believing the hops may have mellowed by arrival.

Bottled 500ml (BZ, BB 09/2012)
Clear golden color, small steady white head, lace. Light fruity-flowery aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Light fruityness and bitterness in the flavor. Some nutty maltyness in the background. Clean but not very exciting. Last 3 beers I’ve had from this brewery have quite similar malt and even hop profiles.

Bottle: Clear, golden, visible carbonation, big white stable head, spicy herbal-hoppy nose with a certain (tropical) fruitiness in the background, some darker malt detectable; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, not too light bodied; dryish lingering hoppy-fruity finish with some balancing malt underneath. Really a goody...

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a mid-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Citric and lemony, also slightly grassy and delicately woody hoppy aroma with a cara-malty, slightly biscuity background. Mildly bitter flavour, light to almost medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Cara-malt with a present hops profile with mainly fruity notes of grapefruit, lemon getting slightly grassy towards the moderately dry and bitter finish with a rounded (cara-)malty touch. Good. 23.VI.12

Fruchtig malziger Beginn, zunehmende Hopfigkeit. 9/11/12/12/9/12

500ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with average firm frothy minimally lacing white head. Grassy hop aroma with decent fruity and slightly grainy malty background notes. Taste is initially moderately bitter hoppy, then the malty basis gains ground, caramel malty notes mix up with grassy hops; short bitter finish.

(Cask at Akkurat, 20111116) The beer poured pale golden and a little bit hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma was fruity and sweet. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, hops, malts, grasin and bitterness. Aftertaste was fruity and bitter. Suprisingly fruity for a British IPA. I liked.

(Cask at Akkurat) Pours pale amber with a small head. Subtle biscuit aroma. Flavour is somewhat watery but is hoppy enough to make this beer drinkable. Salty finish.
