Cask, Three Kings, Cullen. Light amber, aroma is mellow, palate is toasty, with biscuity malt character. Not bad.

500ml bottle from Alesela. Pours clear gold, thin white head. Aromas of orange zest and dusty malt, light honey. Taste has more of the same, and a bit sticky on the palate. OK.

Bottled. Lightly hazy golden, small head. Aroma of tangerine with notes of rubber and bread. Dry with light body and crisp mouthfeel. Astonishingly bready with a thin blanket of grapefruity hops and mid bitter finish.

Bottle, Christmas gift from Tom. Hazy golden body with no head. Light carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of caramel, lightly roasted malt and apricot. Flavour of wood, oranges and a tinny, bitter finish. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. A decent Golden Ale.

Re-rating from bottle from Al from the brewery - I was getting loads of floral notes and perhaps even custard this time. It’s still very much dominated by malt and goes very flat at the end perhaps needing more hops or slightly more carbonation. Previous rating on 07/05/13 = 6+2+6+4+12 = 3.0 50cl bottle. Pours golden, not much head. The nose has honey and pale malt - maybe cornflakes. The taste has more honey, some cornflakes with some lemony finish. The palate is light to medium bodied and textured with a clean finish. Overall, a solid citizen.

This is the dry-hopped Citra version (3.3)
Cask @ Brodie Beer Festival 8th June 2013
Golden amber, clear, slightly off white fairly dense head, good lacing
Aroma of grapefruity citrus hops and fairly sweet citrus malts
Taste of soft sweet citrus fruits, soft grapefruit, dab of tropical fruits, some bitter zest, OK
Palate - Light to medium body, fairly oily texture. Finish - fairly bitter citrus zest
Overall - It was quite a nice golden ale...I felt it would benefit from a slightly higher abv (around 4.3%). Overall, the Blonde is a bit better.

Earlier Rating: 1/31/2013 Total Score: 3.4
Cask @ Skerry Brae [120213] - more flavour now, more citrus, really fresh today...up to 3.4

Cask @ Skerry Brae, Lossiemouth [310113]
Golden amber, clear, dense thin white head, good lacing
Aroma - Soft pale fruits, fruity pale malts, light sweet citrus fruits
Taste of soft pale fruits, pale caramel malts, touch of citrus hops, some cereal malts, not that hoppy
Palate - light to medium body, soft carb, fairly oily, smooth. Finish of soft biscuit with a quite long bitter linger with a dryish bitter tail
Overall - Bit better than your standard golden ale. This is probably their ’bread-and-butter’ ale. It’s OK but the Wolf and APA outshine this one

Bottle from Deeside Drink Emporium. It pours clear amber with a small white head. The nose is orange, mandarin, rather zesty, caramel and chamomile. The taste is zesty orange, tangerine, wood, earth and floral notes with a dry, citric finish. Medium body, fine carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Decent zesty golden ale.
