1/II/25 - 75cl bottle from… De Hopduvel maybe? I forgot. Shared @ Nieuwjaarsreceptie Gentse Biervereniging (Ledeberg), BB: 13/VIII/26, lot: 2024/128 à 131 (2025-68)
Clear amber beer, small irregular aery head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: yeasty, very malty, cow fodder, caramel, meh. Not much winter vibes from this one? MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: yeasty, very malty, grains, bitter touch, a bit watery, grassy. Aftertaste: some caramel, malty, yeasty, lots of cow fodder, hay, a little bitter.

Rusty-brown beer, yellow sheen, under a cream to mango yellow head, medium and reasonably stable. End of bottle solid yeast. Brown candi sugar, maltsugars, alcohol& fusels. Parsley, fresh bread, yeast, pastry. Bitter main flavour, bit vegetable in character, but with a lot of rest- and other sugars underneath. Wood, slightly metallic, some roast. Again brown candi, caramel but the sweetness never fully develops; Again some yeast features. Chewy, viscous, full bodied with a good carbonation. Long lasting flavours, and despite the yeast dependency, a good balance achieved. Given blind, I would have ventured a good barley wine. Txs to L&Y for bringing!
