Belgium Peak Beer in Sourbrodt, Liège, Belgium 🇧🇪

  IPA - Belgian Regular
Score
6.78

Peak IPA (India Peak Ale) is a beer with 6,5 % of alcohol and a strong taste of citrus. It offers a flavour of lemon and a taste of exotic fruit due to the fact of choosing aromatic hops as Sincoe and Idaho used for the “dry hopping”.
Its warm orange colour will satisfy all its friends.

Peak's attempt at IPA, dry-hopped with Simcoe and Idaho-7; longneck bottle from a local supermarket in Ostbelgien. Egg-white, uneven-bubbled, shred-lacing, thick and frothy head on a hazy peach blonde robe with pale orange glow. Aroma of paprika powder, rusk, fried onion somewhere, dry strawbales, old orange zest, wet sand, dust, dandelion, dried out carrot. Cleanish, dryish onset, low in sugars but also low in esters (some baked banana and dried pumpkin notes perhaps), lively carbonated with smooth, somewhat oily mouthfeel; rusk- and thinly biscuit-like maltiness under a long peppery hop bitterness bringing aspects of old dried citrus peel, lemon thyme and paprika powder, but hardly any of the vibrant oniony, citric or tropical sensations one can and should expect from IPA nowadays - especially when Simcoe and Idaho-7 are at play. Dry, clean and sleek but lacking in hop aromatics - another very mediocre Belgian IPA I guess, but far from undrinkable.

Cloudy deep gold with a good off-white head. Pale malt, wheat bread, citrus fruits, catty & tropical notes, white wine, spicy Belgian yeast, grass, distant funk. Rather dry. Medium bitter. Good.

Bottle at home. Somewhat orangy color, full sized white head. Aroma is very floral imo. Flavor is malts, floral again, some notes of plant like hops, bitter, distant spruce notes. Body is decent to medium, carbonation is lively. Mwah.

Amberkleurig bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter hoppig en fruitig met iets van ananans, hars, sinaasappel en mango. Degelijk goede IPA.

Nice. More of an old school English IPA. More floral and rounded.

Bottle from a Durbuy bottle shop. Hazy amber, stable, frothy, tan head. Aroma of apple peel, pear, plum, brioche, peanut. Taste has sweetish apple & plum in a brioche- & rye-like malt body; bitter blood orange peel. Herbal & earthy hoppy finish with dried citrus peel and light roasted malts. Medium body, slick texture, average carbonation. Like a combination of classic Pale Ale with Belgian Blonde. Pleasant surprise.

T: medium malty base, orange, light grapefruits, floral, light tropical fruits, good balanced bitterness, caramel touch, nice for the style, enjoyed for sure.
