Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour with a minor head. Aroma is peated, some earthy and quite strong on the liquorice with alcohol and some leathery tones too. Flavour has quite much the same elements as the aroma, very sweet, but also quite strong on the leathery side.

Sample, thanks fonefan! Black, beige head. Intense peaty nose with some licorice. Surprisingly dry with full body and rounded mouthfeel. Licorice, coffee, salmiak, peat and oak. Peppery warming finish.

Pitch black, big mocha head. The aroma is pretty strong strong in smoke and peat, iodine, band aid - when blending with the alcohol creates a pretty harsh profile at first - chemical / shoe polish - gets smoother with time. Not much malts behind the smoke. On the other hand, the earthy burnt ashy Scotch barrel notes layer quite nicely over the robust restrained dark malts of the base stout. Moderate alcohol, good hop bitterness with a note of burnt wood or dry leaves. Certainly, the most funky and idiosyncratic of the series... Still, interesting and enjoyable.
