Gose-style ale with Syrah Grapes aged in Oak Foeders
This is a rosé - and a gose - by any other name. Goses are Red is a stylish funky, crisp and tart gose ale inspired by the soft sweetness of a rosé wine. The refreshing wheat-based ale begins with some of the qualities you’d expect from a gose, including coriander spicing and a light saltiness to complement the tartness imparted by our house cultures. But the story doesn’t end there - it builds in complexity, thanks to time spent in an oak foeder and the addition of grapes, which impart a refreshing character and color.

Gose for breakfast. Rosé for breakfast. Whatever it's good for Sunday mornings. Refreshing and tannic, salty dry and wine without the wine.

On tap at Basement Beer Bar. It's an almost clear reddish to copper colored beer with close to no head. The aroma is fruity, with hints of vinegar, a touch of berries and some yoghurt. A herbal hint lurks in the back. It's dry and medium bodied on the palate, pleasantly carbonated, with a mostly fruity flavor. Not really salty, but there's a tannin touch to it. Vinegar hints, berries and some pale malts and yoghurt, and a lasting fruity finish. Well... It's a fine and complex brew, but it fails to impress. 190427

RB backlog. A bit cheesy, marjoram, musty grapes, hay. Intense play between sour notes and good sweetness. Oily body with natural carbonation. Good.
