Once upon a time a Prussian monk, or perhaps, an otherwise cheerful student, who worked as a scribe in Prague, wrote a witty double, which became the oldest monument to the Baltic language. The Prussian named Peter Fru (the way he used to be called in Prague), reprimands his uncle in this two-sentence poem, telling him that the latter wants to drink but he wouldn’t want to pay the money: "Kayle rekyse toneaw labonache thewelyse Eg Koyte poyte nykoyte penega doyte" i.e. “You are not a good daddy (uncle), if you want to drink but you wouldn’t want to give the money.” The phantom of a Prussian scribe leaning over his writings inspired us to remind you of this witty epigraphy. We chose to brew a monk-like style, of slightly hopped like the one, we believe, perhaps, has been tasted by this Prussian Petrus Fru. Nelson Sauvin hops with a white wine aroma give this ale a moderately modern feel.

50cl bottle from Dundulis webshop. Pours slightly hazy amber with a decent, off-white head. Malty and somewhat herbal with fruity notes and hints of honey. Unusual flavour, but quite pleasant. Surprisingly smooth and well balanced with a pleasant bitterness. Nice one. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dundulis Koyte Poyte on 26 Sep 2021 at 14:01 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 7.
