Better times are ahead and summer is almost upon us! That's why we named our latest hopped up creation Here Comes The Sun.
For Here Comes The Sun (NEDIPA, 8.2%) we used an incognito variant as whirlpool hop for the first time: Mosaic Incognito. On top of that, this hazy DIPA is intensely double dry-hopped with Eclipse, Galaxy and Mosaic. The combination of Golden Promise and oats creates a silky soft base. For the fermentation we used Verdant's beautiful IPA yeast.
Specs
Style: New England Style DIPA
ABV: 8.2%
Hops: Eclipse, Galaxy, Mosaic, Mosaic Incognito
Malts: Golden promise, oats
Yeast: Verdant

CD 09/06. Hazy yellow, bit of white head. Smells a bit dry, a bit bitter, and quite fruity. Pithy citrus, bit of mango. Decent body, bit of a bite. Taste is nicely balanced, has some light sweetness and a lovely end bitter. Plenty citrus, hint of mango.

0,44 l can.Pale yellow orange juice with a more than one finger white foamy head in the glass. Tropical fruity smell. Taste starts also tropical with resin, a lot of orange and grape. Hints of pepper and yeast. Little bit alcoholic. Very low carbonated. Nice.

Can, 8.2%. Fruity and papery aroma. Cloudy pale yellow colour. Small frothy stable white head. The flavour is mildly hoppy with hay and plastic notes. Rough bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is a little thin for the style, but still OK.

NEDIPA by a local craft brewery in Groningen which has nothing to do with the wild beers otherwise served at the Wild festival there - but a welcome distraction as such. 'Brugse kant'-like lacing, large-bubbled but firm, egg-white, slowly opening head on a hazy to even milky yellow blonde beer. Aroma of moldy oranges, lemon zest, granadilla, freshly cut green bell pepper, pizza Hawaii, oregano, paprika, dough, mandarin. Very lively and colourfully hop-fruity onset, a wave of granadilla, pineapple and pomelo, medium carbonated, sweetish but not too much so, bit minerally around the edges; citric sourishness adorns a milky, doughy core, drenched in strong herbality, oregano- and almost dill-like, green bell pepper even, mixing with the pineapple fruitiness in an almost pizza Hawaii-like overall effect; the tropical fruitiness wins in the end, with the hops adding a light peppery bitterness too, highlighted by an afterglow of gently warming, wodka-like alcohol which nevertheless remains well in place where it belongs. Quite a distinct, fascinatingly herbal interpretation of NEDIPA, but surprisingly well made. Nice one!

Geel met wit schuim. Nectarine, ananas, en een hoop snijgras. Scherp gehopt, hooikoorts gevaar. Maar wel lekker. Haver, bloemig, beetje ziltig in de afdronk. Prima.
