Now when I first started drinken beer, this is what I thought of when the words dark beer were mentioned. Mild low alky dark stouty or schwartz or dark american lagger or mild porter. Probably this beer could be called any of those styles. At first I did not notice any co2 but as the session continues there is this mildly building creamy carbonation that is hiding around the corner. From a 15 oz can. Does not have a widget in there. The carbonation in there makes it much better than those nitro beers where the sizzle is non-exixtent. Friendly and good beer drinken experience, could drink a six pack of these at 3%, heheh. Mild beers, what beer really should be.

Can from ericandersnavy! Pours very dark brown/black with a slight tan head. Light chocolate aroma. Near med body. Flavor is light burnt malt with a touch of chocolate. Quite dry. I guessing floral hop, but itโs hard for me to pin down the hop. However, it does develop a decent level of bitter with time.

Pours a really dark brown with the faintest of ruby highlights when held to light. Smallish off white head canโt be coaxed into any sort of retention. Smells lightly of chocolate, butterscotch, and caramel, with an earthy almost mineraly aroma as well. Taste is earthy butterscotch with hints of caramel and chocolate. Slight earthy hop breaks through the sweetness but just barely. Light body and level of carbonation with a sweet watery mouthfeel. Not a bad beer and I could certainly drink many of these without hesitation. It was a bit malty I would have liked a bit more hop presence personally.

440 ml can purchased at Royal in Kansas City, Missouri. Pour is black with slight burgundy tones, with a pretty 1 1/2 inch khaki head. Nice settling on the pour. The aroma is lightly roasted, cracker malt along with a touch of milky sweetness. The taste is mildly caramel sweet, milky, then turning to the dry roast malt of the nose. Flavors play together nice. The palate is light to thin bodied, lower fine carbonation and the roasty dry finish. Light bodied without being watery. This was an enjoyable beer, particularly midday (ok, late morning) watching the footie.

On tap at Capital Ale House - Downtown on 01/04/2011. Dark black body with a medium creamy tan head. Sweet chocolate, molasses, and light smoke aroma. Dry chocolate, molasses, roast and light smoke flavor. Medium light body with moderate carbonation.
