It has a full body and distinctive roasted malt taste, balanced by its fresh hop character.

(can, 44cl) Dark brown, almost black colour with a small but dense beige foamy head. Sweet and roasty malty aroma with caramel/toffee and notes of smoke. Slightly bitter flavour, light bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Roasty malty and slightly papery taste with caramel and traces of smoke, leading into a slim and moderately roasted finish. Not very flavourful. 07.X.09

Cask @ GBBF 2009. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocoalte aroma with hints of caramel. Roasted malty caramel flavor with some hints of chocoalte. Has a roasted malty caramel finish.

can, bought at a supermarket somehwere in Southe Wales, I guess Tesco Pontypool. Deep brown colour with large beige head. Very light-bodied, malty with hints of caranel without any sweetness, a touch of smoke also present. Light and interesting.

Can (kindly delivered by Q.D.!) Deep dark amber coloured, stable beige head; dryish toasty-grainy nose, light dry bitter flavour, light bodied, too, and very smooth; almost a tinge of smoked malt in the light and soft roasty finish. Thin, but pleasant......

Cask (handpump) @ Great British Beer Festival, GBBF 2008, Earls Court, London, England SW5.Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate and nutty notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium to light, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft to flat. (080808)

440ml can from ASDA. Very dark brown with reddish undertones. Tight, creamy tan head and plenty of carbonation. Aroma of coffee and milk chocolate. Smooth mouth feel, with plenty of roasty flavours, a touch of dark fruit and a slightly bitter finish. A good mild.
