A Gold medal winner in the international brewing industry awards 2000, and a three times bronze medal winner at the Great British Beer Festival in the Best Mild category, this is a smooth, full flavoured, truly dark mild with a rich creamy head.

It has a full body and distinctive roasted malt taste, balanced by its fresh hop character.

Complex flavours and aromas are achieved by blending deeply roasted malt and adding a selected blend of English hops

Cask, The Dispensary, Liverpool. Very stout like in appearance - black with a creamy tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some dark fruit. Quite full bodied. Flavour had more malt with elements of chocolate and raisin. Hint of smokiness in there. Very well rounded and drinkable. Dig it !

(Can 44 cl) Courtesy of Bov. Clear, dark, reddish brown with a small, beige head. roasted, slightly burned aroma. Very light in body, watery and a little flat. Burned malt accents, a whiff of smoke and ashes. Lightly sweet with a subdued bitterness. This for sure is proof that even a light beer can be rich in flavours. 310807

Good greige, dense head over fully dark-brown beer. Slightly sourish, oatmeal (even when rather wheat is used), bit of tobacco and slightly mineral. Soft sweet, with a lot of tobacco ash, and a sweetness that is not sugary. Lactose? Browning sugar adding. And a bit of datesโ€™ flavour. Despite the strange sweet taste, it is rather dry. Sweetness is more outspoken in the aftertaste. And appropriate British light. Remarkable for such a light beer. Still this is not something Iโ€™d see myself drinking all right. Thanks to Dann P

440 ml can. Official Beer of Liverpool โ€™08 - European Capital of Culture - no less! An attractive deep black with a cream head; smoky, malty aroma; first impression in the mouth is dry and smooth, very much like an Irish stout, but then develops into a whole spectrum of flavours; sweet, malt, fruit, dry, smoke, coffee, quinine; leading to a soothing dry coffee aftertaste. An exceptional beer, given the alocohol content and price.
