St George's Ale is a dragon slayer of a brew. Its deliciously smooth, full flavoured and powerful hoppy aroma make it a full bodied English beer that would ward off the most ferocious of fire-breathing legends.

Pint bottle: December 2006 from BA. I drank this beer in a London pub, in cask condition while watching a World Cup match (football) last summer. I was not impressed and thought it might just be a celler, landlord, pub problem. Now I have tried a bottle, I am not so sure, I think it is a beer I do not really like or enjoy drinking. Quarter inch thick, off-white head sat atop a light amber beer ina pint sleeved glass, looked OK. The aroma and taste were of sweet malts, a fizzy hoppiness and nothing else, not great in my opinion. Very poor mouthfeel, no lasting flavours or aftertaste. Not a beer I will be searching for, or even trying again.

The 0.5L bottle poured a clear copper with gold edges and tan head to go along with spotty lacing. The aroma smells of malts and citrus. Very mild aroma overall. The taste has a nice maltiness to it with lightly roasted malts, pale malts and some biscuit malts as well. The malts are cut by a mild pulse of citrus and spice hops. Nice tasting bitter.

Bottle as shown. Pours a hazy orange golden color with a small off white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is a sweet malt and licorice. The taste is a light malt with a dry bitter finish. Enjoyed this ESB from Youngs.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is strong i can smell it as I pour it from the bottle. Lots of caramel and a slight dark cherry. Flavor is a bit dusty that all Youngs beers seem to have with a bit of dry malts and some dark fruit. Im sure this brewer makes another beer like this but you canโ€™t complain as this is a tasty and wonderful ESB.
