Freshly bottled, Alvor (Serious) is a lively, top-fermented, classic Belgian Trappist. But as the wild yeast propagates, other notes come increasingly into prominence. Allow the bottles to mature in the basement for a year or so, and you will understand what we mean. Have a bottle on hand as you "get serious" with Norwegian fermented "rakfisk", cured leg of mutton, or goats-milk chèvre.

Malt: Pilsner, Munich, Crystal and Black malt
Hops: Magnum, Mittelfrüh, Fuggles and Bobek
Yeast: Fermentis T-58 + Brettanomyces Bruxellensis

Nice tasty beer. Alvor means: serious. And this is a serious beer
Balanced sweetness and a fine carbonation level.
Mild acidity.
Malty, citric, yeast and some spices.

750ml bottle, kindly shared by Leif Longva at a session with him, Cunningham, and Finn. Misty golden body, lacing rings form a pearl white head. Malt-fruity aromas, hints of cereal malts and dried fruits, quite inviting. Fine blended taste of mid-sweet malts, yeasty fruitiness and herbal hops. Malt-driven end, mid-sweet. Well bodied. Pleasing. (Vervet, Tromsø, 04.09.2025).

PYG 170524. Golden color with a white head. Aroma is yeast, fruit, malt. Flavor is yeast, fruit, malt, peaches, grass, hay, brett. Decent and nice beer. Lively carbonated.

Bottle, 75cl. A gusher, producing a mostly clear golden colored beer with a small white head. The aroma is fruity and funky, peach, barnyard, grass, some leather, carrot and hay. It's medium bodied and dry, quite heavily carbonated. Fruity flavor with a nice funk. Medium length finish. Quite decent this one, but I'd like more complexity and less gushing. 240517

750 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet, Nettbutikken. ABV is 6.5%. Golden to orange colour, large white head. Aroma of brettanomyces / farmhouse, silage, spices, herbal hops and oaked cider. Dry flavour, the mouthfeel is fairly thin for its strength. Brettanomyces, malts, a hint of malt vinegar (but not really sour), herbal hops again. Nice enough to drink, but not quite in the league of trappists.
