500mL bottle, exppours a hazy dark amber with a large beige bead. Aroma is clearly infected, with lots of metallic character, harsh bitterness, and a touch of caramel malt. Flavour is aggressively bitter, with metallic notes, harsh bitterness, caramel, and bready malt. Carbonation is awkwardly big. Something went wrong here. Disappointing.

From a 500ml bottle on 14/6/2021. Pours a clear light amber with a medium head. The nose is strong with some caramel, apple and dark and dried fruit. Has a decent amount of caramel and toffee sweetness up front, along with some date and red apple. Finishes with a super firm tongue coating resiny bitterness with just a touch of booze. Medium body, slightly syrupy with moderate carbonation. Has a bit of Sierra Nevada Bigfoot about it but not as good. Still a pretty decent barleywine which has the potential to develop.

Bottle, 12C. Lovely almost glowing clear amber with a fat dense off-white coat of a head. Aroma of citrus, singed creamy toffee, spices, obvious alcohol. Rich malt but the sweetness is countered by strong bitterness. The citrus notes are less to the fore. The booze is better integrated than suggested by the aroma. The bittersweet finish lingers briefly. Good balance and finish but not a whole lot of depth.
