There’s nothing better than a friend, unless it’s a friend with really good wine. Lightning Rock Winery generously gifted us some of their lightly pressed Pinot Noir skins. We took these grape skins and added them into barrels of base sour beer that had been aging for over a year. The pair wedded perfectly, giving the beer a beautiful red hue and slight bitterness. Everyone wishes for Friends Like These.

Purplish colour. Bright vinous character. Good body. On the palate, vinous with mild acidity. Juicy, slightly yeasty.

[2023 vintage] Bottle pour at Bottle Fest 2025. Pours murky dull red with a white head. Nose has dull yeast expression, a bit wild, some grapes and cherries. Flavour has tart red cherries, some thick grass, dull yeast. It's okay, but nothing exceptional.

On tap at Darby's, pours a clear cherry red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out musty red grape skins and light bugs — pretty simple nose though. Flavour is dry but not very complex, with bone dry musty grape skins, seltzery notes, and a rustic spiciness. Grainy, vinous, dry finish. Not much depth but competent enough. Meh.
