Brewed in honor of the 1000th batch at our original Clybourn brewpub. A liquid as dark and dense as a black hole with thick foam the color of a bourbon barrel. The nose is an intense mix of charred oak, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and smoke. One sip has more flavor than your average case of beer.

(Draught at Beer Temple, Amsterdam, 15 Aug 2025) Black colour with brief, beige head. Malty, roasted, vinous nose with notes of sweet espresso, cacao, liquorice, bourbon and oak wood. Malty, roasted, vinous taste with sweet espresso, cacao, soy sauce, liquorice, bourbon, oak wood, a touch of tar and a generous coffee bitterness in a warming finish. Full body, sweet. Rich, tasty and mellow. Age has probably softened off the edges a bit. Excellent balance. Great beer!

I was warned that this edition would be sharp, and it indeed is, even after almost a year. Nicely thick, some coffee and chocolate, and a good amount of bourbon. Pretty boozy. Uprated because it's so good for something so relatively cheap and available.
