23/8/2023. Cask at the 44th Peterborough Beer Festival. Pours clear mahogany brown with with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of toffee, roasted malt, coffee, milk chocolate, nut, liquorice. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Medium body, slightly oily, soft carbonation. Decent.

Cask at Old Bell, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with mnimal cream head and good lacing. The aroma is earthy with liquorice to the fore. In the mouth it is sweet and creamy with flavours of liquorice, aniseed and roasted malts plus hints of berry fruits. Finish is bitter, herby and slightly dry. This is quite nice.

Cask at Peterborough Beer Festival 2022. Pours deep brown towards black with a beige cap. Roast malts, liquorice, earthy, some coffee, also some berry sweetness. Medium body with soft carbonation. Pretty decent.

Cask at the strugglers inn Lincoln. Almost black colour with a tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and coffee slight berry fruit. Taste light bitter. Smooth body.
