Zum 150. Geburtstag der Brauerei 1998 wurde es ganz neu kreiert. Wie bei unseren Vorfahren ist es kräftig gehopft, nicht filtriert und hat eine satte, dunkle Farbe.

Draft. A hazy red-brown beer with a thin lazing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of nuts - too light aroma for my liking. The flavor is sweet mlaty with light notes of caramel, honey, and fruit, leading to a dry and slightly bitter finish.

(On tap) Slightly hazy, reddish amber - "schwarz" is a bit far from the truth - with an off-white head. Lightly caramelish aroma. Medium body, a bit flat, with lightly sweet caramel malt and a light bitter finish. 111106

Gravity (@ Schwarzer Keller, Weigelshofen): Dark amber coloured, thin off-white layer; caramelly, a bit toasted aroma, shy hoppiness detectable; slightly sweetish-malty taste, becoming drier towards the first malty, than drier lingering hoppy finish. Soft MF. A good franconian brew !
