A refreshing lager elevated with the addition of green peppercorns. "Ma Jiao" from the Sichuan province in China, Jade Scorpion is dangerously addictive. Peppercorns add bright, citrusy and herbal notes with a gentle tingle that makes our Chinese take on a pilsner delightfully moreish.

Hazy, pale, though a touch dull. Thick head. The aroma definitely has some peppercorn. On the palate, clean pale malt, a bit sticky and perfumey green peppercorn overlay. It's an interesting beer - objectively the adjunct and base complement each other, but I'd prefer more bitterness and I'd also like it a bit less perfumey.

330mL can, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose is mostly green peppercorns, light herbaceous notes, maybe some biscuity malt underneath. Flavour is very perfumey and floral, almost more like a jasmine beer, not really revealing any Sichuan peppercorn-like character—though maybe a tiny tingle at the end. Quite floral and dry. Simple but pleasant.

12oz bottle at Lucky Danger. Poured a slightly hazy yellow color with a fluffy, medium sized white head. Aroma was big peppercorn, pepper, light florals. Flavor was nice lemony citrus, lemongrass, some really nice light yeast. Nice stuff!

Sample, thanks Robin Svensson! Almost clear golden, fizzy head. Citrus meets earthy green pepper up front. Mid sweet with light body and rounded mouthfeel. Green peppercorns, mild cirtus and gras over slender bready malt. A typical greater Chinese style inventive, yet drinkable craft beer with a real character of it's own. I wish western breweries could do things like this, and avoid all the juice, fruit, pastry and shit.

Draft at Paragon, 4/16/25. Clear yellow, fizzy white head that dissipates quickly. Lemongrass, pepper, other spices, and grains. Herbal tea. Clean, dry finish. Lively carbonation. Pretty good overall. Didn't eat while having it, but I bet it's really good with food.
