Our expression of the wide range of quality malts grown here in Washington. Leila is a bright saison brewed with equal parts Baronesse Pilsner malt from Joseph's Grainery in Colfax, WA and malted Purple Egyptian barley from Palouse Heritage in Endicot, WA and all malted by LINC Malt of Spokane. Purple Egyptian barley is a black six-row hulless barley and imparts a soft and round mouthfeel but contributes minimal color. This heritage barley originated in the Middle East and spread northward to the arid regions northeast of the Caspian Sea centuries ago. Hopped with Goldings and Sterling from Crosby Hop Farm. Fermented with our house blend of wild and feral yeasts and bacterias, Leila is a dry saison with notes of melon, tangelo and pear.

Bottle shared with others. Pours a clear light straw yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has light grass and light fruits with some light funk and straw backing. Flavor has light tart fruit and earthy grass with a bit of funk and straw underlying.

375ml from The Gull shared with Alex at Andrey's. Appearance: hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma: a mix of American and Belgian saisons with some peppery notes and slight funk. Taste: along the same lines, crispy. Overall: pretty nice and refreshing.

Hazy blond colour. Aroma of crispy bread, mild funk, light citrusy hops. Dry, but the mouthfeel is soft, pleasant citrus hop character, with a bit of sulfur, of funk, of salt.
Very nice, refreshing, dynamic.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Nose is on the earthy side, with rustic saison yeast and some earthy notes. Flavour is earthy and rustic, with a dry, earthy rustic character and just a hint of tartness. It's a bit dull on the finish. Pleasantly dry but not a lot depth. Very good overall.

Capped 750 from Tavour. Pours gold with a nice white head that didn't last very long. Brett is the first aromatic impression. Orval comes to mind. Aroma is Brett/pear/earth. Med body. Very luscious texture. Dry. Flavor is Brett. Not getting lacto or pedio - thank the stars. It's earthy, pear and a citrus note. It's luscious. It's .... Words escape me. It's great ale. Truly.

Gdamn this is great, from a tiny bottle + a new brewery, big surprise. Fantastic yeast profile, citrusy funky nose, crisp tight lemony finish. Thanks Andy K. ! Great stuff on the way from these guys I imagine.
