(Bottle, Priory Arms, Stockwell, London, 7 Aug 2007) Dark reddish brown colour with foamy beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, raisins and prunes. Malty, full taste with dried fruit (raisins, prunes) and chocolate. Medium to full body. Solid, chewy malt with balanced sweetness. Good balance, nice beer.

(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of madsberg. Clear, orangey brown with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel. Very solid body with lots of roasted malt, a twist of caramel and some hop bitterness in the finish. Very solid and well crafted. 290407

Bottled. An amber beer with a fast disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of caramel, and lesser notes of alcohol. The flavor is very sweet malty with light notes of alcohol, leading to a rather bitter end. It has a good body.

On tap at the Pianeta Birra, Rimini, Italy.
Dark amber coloured, creamy pale beige head, sweet toasted malt nose. The aroma is mild roasted malt and caramel with notes of fruit, toffee and brown sugar. Mild but quite warming alcoholic finish.

Reifer Bananengeruch. Jackpot! Chestnut colour; small, off-white head. Bready, nutty smell; dark, deep malts, pretty complex but difficult to describe. Soft sweet, caramel syrup but not cloying, cake icing or filling, Sachertorte, and just a touch of hops retronasal. Very good balance. Finishes ever so slightly nutty-oxydized. Slick, oily, very well bodied. Surprisingly complex beer, wich is hard to estimate at depth because of its exceptional balance. Digging deeper, there’s a lot going on here. Thanks to Stephen D’Arcy for sharing this one.
