Much Ado is a traditional Helles Lager brewed to traditional German standards. This pale lager is triple decocted and hopped with noble hops, which gives this beer a clean, light but malty backbone, bright golden hue, and the yeast provides a nice balance to the noble hop character. Fresh baked biscuits, subtly floral and herbal hops with restrained bitterness help keep the balance malty but not sweet, which helps make this beer a refreshing, everyday drink. This beer was naturally carbonated and lagered for weeks, lending to a soft, creamy, clean, and bright finished product.

Canned. Shiny golden pour. Sweet and grassy in general. Decent. But average.

Pint can from Vintage Estate, 7/28/22. Hazy orange, medium white head, good retention. Aroma of pale malt, apple, a very very faint chemical note. Taste is apple, pear, citrus, pale malt. Crisp, mild bitterness. Decent. It’s not nothing.

Can from Livonia Liquor. Pours a clear gold with a finger of white foam that lingers. Bready malt aromas with honey and light toasted grain. Palate is similar, well-rounded mouthfeel. Light pepper and grain on the finish.

Super clear golden and light peach coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying just off-white head that fades almost immediately after pouring. Aroma of funky biscuity malt, grass, umami notes, a dash of grass and a very pungent amount of medicinal and astringent metallic and yeastie notes that hit in a way a lager really shouldn't. Medium-bodied; Strong dry malt notes dominate with a lot of biscuits, some pungent grainy and especially yeast flavours and a dry, but floral bite from the light hops, but a distinct astringent and pungent funky caster sugar and honey sweetness that persists throughout and doesn't seem quite right, especially for the style. Aftertaste is dry, floral, grassy, herbal and especially funky with most of the flavours derived from the yeast and malts and a hint of hop bitterness coming through and a lot of odd sweetness at the end from the residual sugars with a funky and decidedly medicinal flavour at the very end. Overall, quite funky, very odd tasting and definitely malt/grain/yeast forward. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia on 13-August-2020 for US$3,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 25-August-2020.

16oz can pours a clear gold, ring of white head that faded quick.  Nose has corn, biscuit, butter, grist.  Flavor has buttered biscuits, corn, paper, cardboard.  Reads a bit adjuncty.  Finishes a touch flabby.  Just a bit underwhelming.  6 3 6 2 11
