9/12/2023. Bottle from Hoptimism. Shared at EBGPQF. Pours clear bright amber bronze with a small off-white head. Aroma is toffee, biscuit, woody, whiskey, dried fruits. Medium plus sweetness and moderate bitterness. Medium body, very smooth, average to soft carbonation. Enjoyable.

Panda 🐼 at home thanks to Wingman. A clear deep amber copper coloured pour with a small off white halo. Aroma is nice boozy fruit cake, toffee, sticky raisin, white grape. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, nice layered malts, caramel, toffe, light woody, bark, riasin, white raisin, mellow boozy. Palate is semi sweet, sticky, oily, mellow carbonation. REally nice.

Panda at home, thanks to the Wingmane, 30/06/22. Almost clear chestnut brown with amber with an off white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is sweet malts, almond, dried fruits, sugars, mellow whisky, oak. Taste comprises fruit cake, toffee, raisins, sultanas, boozey cloak, mellow barrel, light spice. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Solid well balanced BA BW.

Bottle from Hoptimism. Appearance - deep amber with a red tinge. Thin white head. Nose - marmalade and whisky. Taste - whisky and dried orange. Marmalade shred. Orange jelly. Dry woody finish. Palate - full bodied, dry woody finish. Overall - good, better if laid down.

Un très grand merci à Graham, qui a spécialement sélectionné pour moi ce Barley Wine vieilli en fût de Speyside très appréciable. La Base du Barley Wine est en premier lieu bien réussi, sur une texture sirupeuse, des arômes simples mais efficaces de Caramel, candy, zest d'orange fruits confits, et un bon équilibre entre douceur et alcool. Ce dernier, à 10% soutient d'ailleurs très bien la structure. Le vieillissement en fut de Speyside et de plus plutôt bien réussi. Ce lui se marie très bien à la base et donne une tonicité supplémentaire à l'ensemble. La robe ambrée quasi limpide est de surcroit jolie. 2 petits bémols viennent toutefois ombrager le tableau. En premier, si les arômes fonctionnent bien, ils manquent de complexité et de profondeur. Le deuxième bémol est plus personnel avec un Speyside que j'aurais apprécié légèrement en retrait pour mieux mettre en avant la base du Barley Wine. Sympathique.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy amber, nose is caramel, toffee, fudge, taste is similar, sweet, chewy.
