Poured from a 22 oz bottle. Aroma is malt forward with dark chocolate and lighter roast notes. Hints of honey, toasted bread and caramel. Light raisin and prune notes. Light bourbon and faint oak. Hints of alcohol spice. Pours black with a medium large, thick, mocha head that recedes steadily to a thin film that lingers on the edges. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with lots of dark and bakers chocolate. Lighter roast and dark caramel notes with some faint toasted bread, honey and leather notes. Moderate bitterness. Some light raisin and sherry notes with hints of prune. Light bourbon and alcohol spice with faint oak notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied and a bit sticky with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice Eclipse but not my favorite from 2017. The barrel character is a bit muted for my preferences.

Bomber from John's Marketplace. Pours a pitch black hue with a medium brown head. A big boozy nose, huge cognac or something akin to it, raisins. More sweet vinous notes, tobacco, chocolate, cognac, hot but very smooth and mellow. Ashy, tobacco and dark fruit in the finish. Quite nice. Very mellow in some ways. They changed back the bottles a bit in 2017 which is much better.

Bottle shared by Marcus. Aroma is dark treacle, wood notes, and definitely some kind of whiskey. It’s less than full bodied. Flavor is pretty much like the aroma description. Bet there’s some rye in it. Not very dry. Chocolate, whiskey and heat substitute for bitter. Very tasty stuff.
