Gold awarded recipe, this batch was aged for eight months in freshly emptied rum barrels from the highlands of Ecuador. Beautiful brown color with sumptuous flavours of toasted oak, chocolate, honey and a slight touch of candied fruits. The taste is a mosaic composed of dried, red plums, ripe figs, raisins, spices, vanilla notes and roasted malts. The fermentation of the addition Muscovado and Demerara sugars utter the experience, creating a specialty beer with a high alcohol content, that will develop great features in time.

330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. Chocolately, malty and yeasty, fruity aroma with mild BA support, notes of milk chocolate, dried dark fruit, plum, raisin, fig, whiffs of tobacco, tea, molasses. Taste is sweet-ish, chocolately, dark malty, yeasty fruity, minimally yeasty spicy, slightly alcoholic, mild BA support, notes of milk chocolate, dried dark fruit, rum soaked dried fruit, raisin, plum, fig, a touch of apricot, molasses, liquorice, tea, tobacco, minimally warming, alcoholic finish. Watery texture, rather dry palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Rich and complex, harmonious and balanced, sadly a tad overcarbonated - very, very nice.

Bottled, from Beerdome! Wildy gushing. Dark brown, minimal brief head. Oaky caramel aroma with some marzipan. Sweet with full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Figs and licorice, brown sugar. Vanilla and peppery heat. Long bitter finish. The rum is very subtle.

12/12/2020. Bottle sample courtesy of saxo/fonefan. Pours dark purple to black with minimal head. Aroma of chocolate, rum, roasted malt, toffee, dried fruits, spiced cake. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Enjoyed this the most of the six Oriel's tried today, but the Jack Daniels version's still the best for me.

ABV: 11.5%. Clear dark brown colour with a large, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, dark malt, moderate to heavy yeasty, fruity yeast, belgian yeast, dark fruit, rum - sweet alcohol, dried fruit. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, caramelized malt, belgian yeast, rum, dark fruit, dried fruit, dark malt, fruity yeast - candy. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20201205]

Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Hazy brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, dried fruit, dark malts and rum. Flavor is very sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and moderate bitter finish with lots of warming alcohol. A bit boozy. 051220
