In the spring of 2019, we received a series of very old Oloroso, PX and Amontillado barrels through a local Jerez cooperage. The aromas were a mix of typical fine sherry notes and toasted, peated characteristics, which we have never experienced before. However, after a year of bottle conditioning – because of the higher peated aromas, albeit balanced – we decided to release this bottle not as a Zenne y Frontera, but as a peated geuze.

Blend 62. Had at Belgicali tasting. Golden with white head. Funky, citrus, sherry, nuts. Peat is very subtle and adds a bit of complexity. Good.

2022-10-29, corked bottle, courtesy of Sergey, 10.6% ABV, n.61 season 1920, bottled 14/04/2020, 9-4-9-4-18=44
Cloudy golden colour. Lovely funk, with malt in the aroma, some ass/sweat. It's even a bit sweet, moderately acidic, with lovely Lambic character; it has strong vinous notes, and very light smoke.
Excellent.

2022-03-17, tasting at Matt's, corked bottle, 7.8% ABV, n.62 season 1920, bottled 04/15/2020; 9-4-8-4-18=43
Hazy golden colour. Strong 3 Fonteinen character, funky, sweat, horseblanket. Soft mouthfeel, moderate acidity; strong Lambic character, strong funkiness, with complementing peat; mildly astringent in the finish.
Excellent.

Paleish amber colour. Opaque. Mostly leathery gueuze aroma, but a deep inhale brings in a fair bit of smoke. On the palate, it's a bit thin, light, but there's some sherry barrel, tannin and a touch of that peat smoke. Seems like there's more bitterness than usual, but definitely the same nice leathery, dry brett goodness.

750mL bottle, pours a clear golden with a small off-white head. Nose is wonderful, with loads of sherry barrels, moderate peat, and intense signature 3F funk. Flavour is complex, with a wonderful mixture of peat, sherry barrels, and barnyard funk all in good cohesion. Really great incorporation of the smoke; and the sherry barrels are wonderful. Excellent.

Bottle pour at St. Gambrinus. Pours gold. Lemon, bright white wine vinegar, champagne vinegar, smoke, earthy rich peat smoke, vanilla, apricot, green apple, grapefruit juice, strong barnyard. Medium body. The smokiness plays very nicely with the barnyard, leading to something very complex and oddly drinkable. Very good.

Small white head, disappearing over hazy orange beer. Typical gueuze-farmyard odour, chalk, sherry, faint lemon. Lemon, sherry, and then, retronasal, indeed tarr, phenol - blended in and not overwhelming. Light acidthinning but no or very little acidburn; lipsmacking acidity, good carbonation. Peat is just that little bit over to be truly refreshing, but it doesn't harm at all. No smoked malt - and yet this flavour, blending in perfectly. This is... outstanding in the litteral sense of the word. And great.

Bottle, 75cl corked. #61, 10.6%. Sort of gushing. A hazy orange colored beer with a small offwhite head. Funky aroma with a hint of smoke. Lemon, barnyard, leather notes and some orange hints. Supremely hidden alcohol. Some grains and grass. It's tart, warming, full bodied and nicely carbonated, with a mostly funky flavor. Barnyard, leather, hay notes and some orange, with lemon and a faint oak hint. Alcohol notes. Lasting finish. Delicious, complex and sure moreish. 220115

Light, fruity, sour, tart. Stone fruit, some funk, there is some peat coming through alright. Some dry barrel, very nice.
