Nice dark brown body and some beige foam. Very boozy molasses aroma, sugary and sweet. Taste is chewy molasses, port grape comes on strong, sugary malts and it's all quite boozy. A heavy handed approach to this kind of beer, I mean it sort of works but ultimately it just reminds me of the times it has really excelled.

Draught at Superflux, Vancouver, listed 8.3% ABV
Black colour, with dark head, small, compact. It's very smooth, there's and elegant Imperial Stout here, not very deep, but with good chocolate notes, and mild sweetness; the Port barrel adds a delicate note, a gentle fruitiness, that builds on the chocolate and complements it perfectly. The finish is smooth but weaker/shorter than I'm getting used to. Very good.

Edited the ABV to say 9%, which is what was at the brewery. On tap at Slackwater. OK, this is heavy on the port. I didn't actually know La Frenz made one, thought it would be Black Sage. Figs and raisins and brown sugar. Damn. Fruity, with light alcohol. This is good shit, though it's really heavy on the port character. But I appreciate that it leans into that fruity, acidic figgy raisiny goodness.

Poured from the tap. Black with small beige head. Port barrel is quite prominent. Vinous, dark fruits, underlying roast malt, some tannin and oak. Pretty good, but I think it would be even better just a tad bit heavier. Wondering if aging a bottle of this may be worth a trying.

On tap at Bells & Whistles - Fraser, pours jet black with a medium tan head. Aroma is loaded with intense port red wine, some tannins, oaky wood, and moderate roast. Flavour is remarkably rich and vinous, with sweet port red wine notes, dark fruits, and moderate roasted malt. Those port barrels impart a wonderful depth, lending equal parts vinous character, dark fruits, and residual sugars. Excellent.
