Frank Boon, de oprichter van onze brouwerij, geeft de fakkel door aan zijn zonen Jos en Karel. Hij mag met fierheid terugblikken op zijn carrière als lambiekbrouwer. Voor deze gelegenheid creëerde Frank een speciale blend, Apogee, met lambiekbier uit de oudste en de nieuwste foeder. Frank’s pioniersrol om traditionele lambiekbieren terug op de kaart te plaatsen, is van onschatbare waarde. Dankzij zijn passie, kennis en vakmanschap kan men van een lekker glas Oude Geuze genieten thuis en in heel wat cafés. Met Apogee viert de brouwerij enerzijds de brouwers carrière van Frank Boon, en anderzijds de overdracht van Brouwerij Boon aan de volgende generatie, Jos en Karel Boon.
De Oude Geuze Apogee werd op 29 april 2019 gebotteld en is een assemblage van 1, 2 en 3 jaar oude lambiek. Voornamelijk werd 2-jaar oude lambiek gebruikt uit onze nieuwste foeder (N°83), samen met 3-jaar oude lambiek uit de oudste foeder (N°79). In totaal werden zo'n 22.500 flessen gevuld. Elke fles is genummerd. Op de achterzijde van de fles vind je het flesnummer.

Bottled 750ml. -at Ambasada Zagreb. Golden coloured, medium sized white head, soft peach and wood in the nose. Peachy, lemony, notes of wood and mild white grapes with light acidity in rather dry finish. Quite nice.

Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours a cloudy orange gold with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is strong funk, oak, barnyard, apple skin. Slick body, funky, apple, oak, nice tartness, enjoyed this.

Bottle, bottle number 22376 of 22500. Great artwork. Color: Clear golden, lasting white head. Aroma: Hay, lightly tart, wood, fruity berry and grape, subtle funky. Taste: Funky notes, light to moderate tart and lightly sweet, very light bitterness of old hop. Fruity notes of gooseberry, grape and some citrus / lemon and green apple. Hay, straw and wood. Minerals. Some tannins. Very nicely balanced. Mild. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Dry-ish and slightly foamy mouthfeel. Great blend.

Bottle 750 ml, shared with Miro B and kajser27. Hazy orange, white head. Nice funky, barnyard, some apples, some horse blanket, light fruity notes, nice medium sourness. Nicely layered.

Bottle thanks to Rich. It pours clear golden - amber with a decent white head. The aroma is musty, lemon peel, vibrant, lime, gooseberry, sherbet, refreshers, dull vanilla, custard, granny smith, white currant and damp oak. The taste is crisp, dry, firm and puckering, white wine, gooseberry, white grape, mild acidity, dry oak, tannin, straw, hay, white currant, musty, vibrant and bright, minerality, vinous and just a hint of alcohol with a drying finish. Average body and moderate, prickly carbonation. Crazy nice balance to it. Exquisite stuff. Classy.

Bottle at happy new year tasting. At Colin's. 21/01/2021. A light hazed golden orange coloured pour with a a halo of white head.. Aroma is is nice spicy, green hop, spicy green hop, nettle, pine, horsey funk, prickly green hop, horsey funk.

Tasting at Chez Bois. Thanks to Cloin. Light haze on this paleish gold beer, no real head. Thinnish palate, semi dry, decent fine minerally carbonation. Thin malts. Typically woody gueuzey fruits. Tart dried fruits. Crisp finish. Drinkable gueuze.

Bottle at the 'Mere, Happy New Years (Tipples had) Tastang, from an online peddler who I CANNOT recall 21/01/22. Lightly hazed orange to golden with a decent white cap that dissipates to a swirl. Nose is funk, dirty grape must, green berry must, dirty wood, tarte edge, vinous. Taste comprises sharp citric peel, green berry must, earthy, grape skins, barnyard twist. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a balanced puckering edge. Solid lambic dirt.
