Re-rating (previous 5 - 5.4, newer first) Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 11C). Bottle 33 cl - Batch L2012 (BBF MAI21). AROMA: initial medium-high estery aroma (solventy, strong fruity) and yeast. no hop discernible. slight caramelly background. APPEARANCE: light amber color and clear. large light ivory average head with somewhat good retention. TASTE: initial medium-high esters (strong fruity), yeasty medium notes, with a slight solventy background. no hops detected. low malt on the background with a slight toffee character. medium-low bitterness leading into a dry finish. faint cereal husk. PALATE: medium-low body with medium-high carbonation. slight alcoholic warmth and astringency. OVERALL: a strong bitter with some fermentation problems and lacking the character of British malt and hops.
