This quintessential English-style Old Ale is a masterpiece, with each sip being a delicious new experience. Notes of figs, molasses and leather fill your senses, all mingling with wood, vanilla and dried fruit. We painstakingly researched, perfected, and brewed a special batch of Black Treacle just for this beer. Then we aged Den Haag in rare, sought-after Blanton's Bourbon barrels, all creating an extremely delicious and memorable character.

brown with a dark beige and brown head that doesn't last that long. smooth head. looks like a dark barley wine.
aroma is like a barrel aged barley wine of the highest quality, dried dark fruity notes like a quad, the high alc. can be sensed, body is full, apricot.
flavor is booze - coconut - sweet - dried dark fruits - apricot , malts, rye bready, burning sensation from alc. very complex flavor with lots of notes i can't even name. amazingly mild and drinkable considering the crazy high abv. it does in fact taste a bit like if it was an imperial version of an old english ale. great sipper, good barleywine alternative.

Sample at the Hoppin’ Frog Tasting Room during the "Hoppin' Frog Tasting Room 12th Anniversary" on 06/21/2025. Dark brownish-mahogany color with a thin light beige head that diminishes quickly to a sparse outer ring. Spots of lace. Aroma of bourbon, malt, fruit and hops. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, dark fruits, grainy malt and vanilla. The finish is sweet with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Good beer all around.

473ml can. Almost opaque, darkest brown colour with very weak, ruby shimmer and minimally late awakening, average, frothy, diminishing, minimally lacing, dark beige to tan head. BA supported, toasty, dark and caramel malty aroma, hints of Bourbon, vanilla, a touch of oak, lots of spicy and fruity subtleties in a spectrum between cinnamon and plum, brown sugar and raisin, maple syrup. Taste is sweet and toasty, caramel and slightly dark malty, slightly alcoholic, BA induced fruity, spicy and woody aspects, notes of Bourbon, vanilla, some oak, hints of cinnamon, plum, brown sugar, raisin, a touch of pancake, maple syrup; a permanent alcoholic strand gains influence in a lingering, warming finish.
Viscous texture, smooth and soft, cloying palate, fine, soft, carbonation.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Very deep coppery brown colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is ripe fruits, some wooden, mild spices and some toffee tones along with nutty and mild alcohol elements. Flavour is pretty much following the same pattern as the aroma,. but has a bunch more alcohol coming through, in fact the finish is rather burningly boozy on the tongue and the gums.
