Ganz laut.

On tap at Brighton Bierhaus, pours a hazy dark amber brown with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out gentle toasted nuts, a hint of dark fruits, and earthiness. Flavour is nutty and fruity, with red fruits, toasted nuts and earthiness. Much cleaner and well-calibrated than the Hefeweissbier-Dunkel I just tried. Pleasant and competently made.

Dark brown. Aroma is chestnut caramel some leaves light earth. Taste is light caramel with heavy melasses and some distinct bitterness. Finish is also rather bitter and caramelly. Somehow a little harsh without a distinct character. Alright.

Bottle, 0.5l. Cloudy mahogany brown pour, two finger frothy off-white head, short lasting. Sticky lacing on the glass. Mild on the nose, malty, light roast, caramel and herbal notes in the background. Light body, soft carbonation. Average mouthfeel and texture, soft, smooth, somewhat watery. Easily drinkable. Roasty sweet taste balanced with mild bitter notes in the background. Malty aroma, roasted malt, caramel, dried fruits. Bready and nutty notes, hints of cocoa. Grainy. Short lasting finish, slightly dry. Tasty dunkel.

Bottle from Redland Stores, Bristol. Mahogany in colour, with a slight, off-white, head and touch of carbonation. Caramel, bready malts, some red berry sweetness with a lingering, bitter, finish. A good dunkel.
