A hint darker than golden, just the slightest bit of haziness. Low to medium sized white head, good enough retention and lacing. A nicely fresh aroma: grainy malty base with hints of hay, a bit of something sweeter in the back (honey?), fresh herbal/grassy notes, a bit of apple-like fruitiness; though mainly a fresh-feeling aroma, it also has a slight warming touch. Taste doesn't fully live to expectations: taste notes more or less as per aroma, but not as fresh in feeling. Ok taste definition, but a bit of syrupy/sticky sweetness in finish/aftertaste. Sweet/bitter balance is still fine on the whole. Medium body, slightly below medium carbonation, ok drinkability for style and abv. Very much ok, but I've had much better stuff from this brewery.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass deep golden, nice head. Starts fine malty-spicy, light alcoholic. Herbal-grasy notes in the background. Finish well balanced, spicy-malty. Quite drinkable. Nice one!

Tap at the infamous cafe abseits. Clear golden. Aroma is fine grain and cereal with noble hops and light pear and caramel. Taste is very smooth bitter noble hops with sweet caramel. Feinwürzig light and smooth base. Very drinkable. Nice.

Clear yellow colour, white creamy foam. Nose of ripe fruit, honey, some banana, bready. Medium sweet, surprisingly bitter hoppy finish. Well balanced. Great Heller Bock.

Bottle, bought @ the brewery. Pale golden color. Soft tropical fruit aroma. Grassy herbal hopbitter flavor. malty sweetness hidden by the quiet but omnipresent hoppiness. Earthy notes, especially in the finish. Good!

500ml Bottle - Golden with a white head. Lemon, hay and hints of sherbet in the aroma. Sherbet lemons, grapefruit and grain can all be detected. The finish is moderately sweet but also with a dry kick.

“Huppendorfer Josefi-Bock“, Flasche (50 cl) von Hopfen & Malz, Berlin. - Satt goldgelb, klar.
