A Stout made with Cà Phê Chồn – one of the world’s rarest coffees, imported from Vietnam. Coffee beans are collected, cleaned and roasted after going through the digestive tract of the luwak, a type of civet with very particular tastes. Roasted malt links coffee, citrus and dark chocolate to form a potent brew leading to a hoppy, happy, bitter citrus finish.

Pours completely black, very little head. Aroma is dark malts, lots of espresso, figs, very roasty. Medium body. Flavour is dominated by coffee. Lots of dark malts and roasty flavours, rather sweet, licorice, caramel. Long lingering finish. Very much dominated by coffee, very solid Imperial stout.

Bottle split at Chris & Ruths pre GBBF Shin Dig, cheers for all the shares, 05/08/17. Pitch black with a solid dirty tan cap. Nose is molasses, spice, roast malts, chocolate, vanilla essence. Taste comprises earthy roast, coffee, chocolate, light spice, dark toffee, vanilla. Medium + body, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a boosty nip. Ok impy but lacks depth for the hefty ABV.

Can from Val-U. Pours a motor oil black with 2 fingers of brown foam that linger. Lots of toasted molasses, sorghum, cacao and faint plum aromas. Full bodied stout with good crisp, carbonation and some roasty bitterness. Fairly smooth with the booze hidden fairly well. Roasted malt, plum, prune and raisin notes as well. Don't get much coffee. Kinda prefer the original I guess.

Bottle at C&R Pre-GBBF Tasting 2017. It pours opaque black with a small light tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, big coffee vibe, earthy, coffee cake, wood and a touch of spice. The taste is rich roasted malt, bitter - sweet, earthy, roasted malt, plenty of expresso, coffee cake, cacao nibs, dried fruits, touch of spice and warming booze through the finish. Full body and moderate carbonation. Rich, yet well - rounded. Good stuff.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Palate is smooth and semi dry, decent carbonation. Great chocolate malteaser vibe but more like dark chocolate covered malteasers. Little sweet coffee. Just a touch of bitterness on the smooth finish. Most entertaining.
