A Stout made with Cà Phê Chồn – one of the world’s rarest coffees, imported from Vietnam. Coffee beans are collected, cleaned and roasted after going through the digestive tract of the luwak, a type of civet with very particular tastes. Roasted malt links coffee, citrus and dark chocolate to form a potent brew leading to a hoppy, happy, bitter citrus finish.

Bottle, 10.9%. Fruity aroma, reminds me of chili?! Black colour. Good, fairly stable dark brown head. The flavour is sweet and spicy. Has a mild coffee note, not very bitter. The spiciness seems to come from both malts and hops. Late coffee and sweet liquorice notes. Some red berries in the aftertaste as well. Good and creamy mouthfeel.

Can from Hop Locker. Pours jet black with dirty tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, a little booze, burnt malt and molasses. Taste is coffee and chocolate with a well balanced boozy burn which then moves into a treacly sweetness. Maybe a little too carbonated but really good stuff

(355ml can from Mikkeller Webshop, canned Nov/16) Tried to explode in my kitchen cupboard due to temp fluctuations, managed to pop open the can and it blew a massive dark tan head on a black body, took a long time to fade. Aroma of roasted coffee, hard roasted malts, some chocolate, fair amount of liquorice, touch of raw sugar. Flavour is again roast dominated, tar, raw sugar in strong black coffee, light dark fruit character, bittersweet chocolate, light liquorice, strong amount of hard roasted malt, spent coffee grounds and ash in the rather bitter finish. bare touch of alcohol. Long roasty burnt finish with brewed coffee lingering. Medium bodied, below-average carb, possibly due to its travails. Solid, not as good as the OG Brunch though.
